Ten things I learned

Things I learned while waiting in dentist and doctor's offices last week:

1. I apparently don't read magazines I subscribe to. I read several Parenting and Parents magazines that were all news to me. I have them at home but I guess I hadn't read them very well.

2. There can be a child named Octavia that dresses like a boy and doesn't speak very clearly. She runs wild while her mother chases her and the Dad giggles.

3. My blood pressure goes through the roof while I wait. White coat syndrome a nurse called it.

4. Doctors do not care if you wait for two hours to see them.

5. Some people wear their slippers to the doctor.

6. I learned from a little boy that the Easter Bunny does not lay eggs.

7. Most people do not turn off their cell phones even though signs are posted everywhere to turn them off because they interfere with the computers.

8. Some people bring their friends to the doctor with them.

9. That Phoebe can sleep through the teeth cleanings of her siblings admist the craziness of a waiting room of children.

10. That I hate waiting in doctor and dentist offices.

Minus two teeth

My poor Chloe had to have two teeth pulled today. I was a nervous wreck. She had a cavity in a back baby tooth that was bothering her. We knew she had the cavity and at her last cleaning the dentist said since it was a baby tooth we wouldn't fill it, but if it ever bothered her it would have to come out. I took her in last week because it was hurting. They gave her penicillin and scheduled us to come into today to get it out. She also had a VERY loose tooth that they went ahead and pulled while they were at it. They gave her nitrous oxide (a wonderful thing that no insurance covers) so she didn't remember much about it. It made me so anxious to wait in the waiting room while they gassed up my baby and yanked out two of her little baby teeth. I'm so glad it's over. She did great. Now the tooth fairy will fly in tonight leaving some loot for the teeth (and pixie dust - aka glitter). Chloe said she probably wouldn't get much for the cavity tooth and she might just give it to Owen. (Owen thinks the tooth fairy doesn't mind where the tooth comes from as long as it's under your pillow, because at the beach he bought a shark tooth to put under his pillow.)

Phoebe was disappointed she didn't get to go to the dentist and she said she needed her teeth pulled because she couldn't even eat. Next week Chloe and Owen both go for their cleanings. They always get a toothbrush and some goodies after their visits. Today they were giving kids a big Easter egg with Easter candy in it. At the dentist!! Chloe said it was so kids would get cavities and have to go back to the dentist. Chloe has always said she wants to be a dentist when she grows up. Now I only hope the tooth fairy can stay up late enough and doesn't forget to leave the money.

(Thank goodness for spell check, because apparently I can't spell cavity.)

Dentist

Today was a busy day. It was my turn to do the fluoride rinse at school today. After that I got Owen and Chloe early to take them to the dentist for cleanings and check ups. On the way to the dentist we had to stop at the bank. We got to the dentist right on time. It was Owen's first trip to the dentist and we was so brave. He went right back without me and did wonderful. I could watch him during the exam through a window. I could see Chloe too, but she's used to the dentist by now. They got good reports. Then we had to stop for diapers, and then they wanted McDonalds for dinner (I won't tell how many pumpkin pies I bought). On the way home we saw an old cannon at a park. Owen said "They haven't used that in years". I just love that little guy.
