Tooth #2

Owen lost his first tooth on a Saturday, and the second tooth on the following Thursday. He looks so cute. I always thought he'd be one to freak out over losing a tooth, but he doesn't. The second one was pretty loose, then he bit into an apple and it got really loose. So, he took a tissue and pulled it out. Phoebe insists that she also has loose teeth. I think it's safe to say, the tooth fairy can take a break for awhile.

Tooth Fairy

Owen lost his first tooth on Saturday. It was an exciting day for him. There was some tooth fairy discussion. Chloe still doesn't own up to the tooth fairy not being real (Chloe lost a tooth on her birthday), Phoebe thought the tooth fairy actually pulls the tooth (to build a castle), and Owen was just wanting some loot. She flew in and left $10 (the first tooth always gets more) and some pixie dust (aka glitter). Owen wonders if he rubs the pixie dust on himself if he could fly. He also wonders how she carries the money. When Chloe lost her first tooth, the tooth fairy had no change and had to leave a twenty. The tooth fairy later suffered from inflation and the poor economy, and usually just leaves a five. I think she'll be flying in here again soon because Owen has another tooth about to fall out. Let's hope she has change when it happens.

Minus two teeth

My poor Chloe had to have two teeth pulled today. I was a nervous wreck. She had a cavity in a back baby tooth that was bothering her. We knew she had the cavity and at her last cleaning the dentist said since it was a baby tooth we wouldn't fill it, but if it ever bothered her it would have to come out. I took her in last week because it was hurting. They gave her penicillin and scheduled us to come into today to get it out. She also had a VERY loose tooth that they went ahead and pulled while they were at it. They gave her nitrous oxide (a wonderful thing that no insurance covers) so she didn't remember much about it. It made me so anxious to wait in the waiting room while they gassed up my baby and yanked out two of her little baby teeth. I'm so glad it's over. She did great. Now the tooth fairy will fly in tonight leaving some loot for the teeth (and pixie dust - aka glitter). Chloe said she probably wouldn't get much for the cavity tooth and she might just give it to Owen. (Owen thinks the tooth fairy doesn't mind where the tooth comes from as long as it's under your pillow, because at the beach he bought a shark tooth to put under his pillow.)

Phoebe was disappointed she didn't get to go to the dentist and she said she needed her teeth pulled because she couldn't even eat. Next week Chloe and Owen both go for their cleanings. They always get a toothbrush and some goodies after their visits. Today they were giving kids a big Easter egg with Easter candy in it. At the dentist!! Chloe said it was so kids would get cavities and have to go back to the dentist. Chloe has always said she wants to be a dentist when she grows up. Now I only hope the tooth fairy can stay up late enough and doesn't forget to leave the money.

(Thank goodness for spell check, because apparently I can't spell cavity.)

A bad hair day (and other bad times)!

Poor Phoebe has been having some bad days. Here she is with some serious bed head. I wish I would have taken the picture somewhere besides the brown couch so you could see it better, it was wild! She woke up like this and we all thought it was pretty funny.





She has had Hand Foot and Mouth disease which is not pleasant. She started with a fever and told me her mouth hurt. I just thought it was her teeth, but turns out her mouth was full of blisters. She has a really bad blister on one of her toes that I know hurts. She can't wear shoes very well and bandaids won't stay on. Today she has a bad diaper rash and is very whiney and clingy. I know she is getting four new teeth that are so ready to pop through. Then this evening I noticed she has two new teeth on the top that I didn't even know she was cutting, her first molars. It looks like they've been through several days, right when she's had blisters in her mouth! Her sleep schedule is all off today, she was up at 5:30, napped at 8:00 until 10:30, so her afternoon nap didn't happen. She fell asleep at dinner and had a late nap. I'm hoping for some sleep tonight! Poor baby!
